MY ANXIETY IS ON FLEX!!!

I LOST AN ENTIRE DAY OF WORK!!!

BUSY!!!!

Time to Go to Work: Building My Notary Business

I have compiled a list of 100 businesses that can immediately benefit from my services, and I am excited about what comes next.

Bless GOD! A new line of credit has processed, which gives me the ability to take care of my remaining notary registration fees, purchase my stamp and seal, invest in a generator, and start working toward purchasing a vehicle.

It's time to go to work!

I laugh when people forget that I formerly managed various telemarketing teams.

Lead Generation Is My Specialty

I know how to find customers.

I know how to build call lists.

I know how to make the pitch.

I know how to follow up.

And most importantly, I know how to turn leads into opportunities.

While business formation is one of the services I offer, it isn't where I plan to put most of my promotional energy.

My primary focus is Online and Mobile Notary Services, Loan Signing Services, and document processing.

That's where I see an immediate opportunity to build relationships with businesses, professionals, organizations, and individuals who regularly need documents handled correctly and efficiently.

Setting Personal Goals

I'm setting some very specific personal and business goals.

One of those goals is getting my business fully operational and online before the end of August.

I'm taking it one step at a time.

There are registrations and compliance requirements to complete. There is equipment to purchase. There is marketing material to create. There are potential clients to identify. And, of course, there is training.

I'm not rushing the process.

I'm building it properly.

Business Formation Is More Than Filing Paperwork

One thing I want people to understand is that starting a business is more than filing paperwork with your state and immediately going to work.

The exact requirements vary by state, business structure, location, and industry, but there are several foundational items entrepreneurs commonly encounter.

1. Articles of Organization

For an LLC, the Articles of Organization are filed with the state.

I like to describe this as the business's "birth certificate." It establishes the LLC as a legal entity under state law.

However, formation is only the beginning.

2. Employer Identification Number

An Employer Identification Number (EIN) is issued by the IRS.

Once you establish your business, you should take the separation between your business finances and personal finances seriously.

Business income and expenses should be properly documented, and business funds should not simply become an extension of your personal spending.

Maintaining separate financial accounts and accurate records can help preserve clean business records and make tax reporting much easier.

3. Registered Agent

A Registered Agent is designated to receive certain legal and official documents on behalf of the business.

Registered-agent requirements vary by state, and there are specific rules regarding who can serve in that role.

We can discuss the details during a consultation.

4. Operating Agreement

For an LLC, an Operating Agreement establishes important rules for how the company will be managed.

It can address ownership, management responsibilities, distributions, voting, decision-making, and other internal business matters.

An Operating Agreement is particularly important because it helps define how the business operates beyond the initial state filing.

Again, requirements and best practices vary depending on the state and business structure.

Don't Forget Local Requirements

This is where many new business owners get into trouble.

You can't simply file your business with the state and assume you're finished.

Depending on your location and industry, you may have additional city, county, state, licensing, permitting, tax, zoning, or regulatory requirements.

Failure to follow applicable requirements can result in fines, penalties, additional fees, or delays.

That's why I encourage new entrepreneurs to understand their compliance responsibilities before opening their doors.

And Yes... I'm Still Working Through the Blackout

After yesterday's power outage, I could have easily thrown my hands up.

But I'm not angry.

I found ways to work in the dark.

That's entrepreneurship.

Sometimes the circumstances aren't perfect. Sometimes the power goes out. Sometimes the equipment isn't all there yet. Sometimes you have to work with what you have while building toward what you need.

And that's exactly what I'm doing.

What's On My Desk Today?

I have a busy day ahead of me.

I'll be:

- Editing my business website and pages
- Shopping for my vendor tent
- Shopping for signage
- Loading my affiliate accounts
- Building my list of potential business clients
- Preparing promotional offers
- Studying for my Loan Signing training
- Completing remaining notary requirements
- Researching equipment
- Planning my mobile operation

And I'm also reviewing my services carefully so that my advertising accurately reflects what I can legally provide in Nevada.

For example, apostille services require special attention to Nevada's process and the role of the Nevada Secretary of State. I am reviewing my promotional materials so I don't advertise a service in a way that implies I personally issue apostilles when the issuing authority is the appropriate government office.

That means some of my promotional offers need to change.

That's okay.

I'd rather advertise correctly than advertise quickly.

The Countdown Begins

I'm working toward being fully online before the end of August.

Fingers crossed!

The next chapter is about execution.

The registration fees are getting handled.

The stamp and seal are on the list.

The generator is on the list.

The vehicle is on the list.

The equipment is on the list.

The client list is growing.

The training is underway.

And the marketing is being built.

I've spent years learning how to communicate, sell, manage teams, generate leads, handle customers, and solve problems.

Now I'm putting those skills to work for my own business.

It's time to stop talking about it and go to work.

100 potential businesses.

New equipment.

New opportunities.

New goals.

Same work ethic.

Bless GOD... I'm building this one step at a time.

9: 07 a.m. Good Morning Tracy Butler, Is Chicago having a "Wizard of Oz" weather day?

Sigh, you know what happens when I pray. I am noticing how the weather has changed extremely since that library (data center) opened! Anyways, one day check in on Chicago.

I love Vegas!!! They showed me so much support yesterday, for the first time I felt the love! I felt appreciated, most of all everybody is paying attention!

 10 a.m. PRICE IS RIGHT

11 a.m. until 2 p.m. V103 IHeart Radio

11:01 a.m. — “CANDY” 🍬 Here we go with Tyler Perry, who I will never forgive for how he slandered my name and image. #Keisha

You did ALL of that just to be wrong as two left feet! πŸ˜‚

Okay, it’s time for Name That Tune! 🎢🎬

When I’m not working, I’m streaming 365 Black. It plays all the good Black movies I love to watch. ❤️πŸ–€

Now, let’s see who’s paying attention…

“Madea Family Funeral” did you see Mike??? πŸ‘€πŸ˜‚

11:04 a.m. Please be advised: this is not Chris Brown’s tour. I can put in a request, but this is Usher’s show, and Chris does not control the lineup or production. Usher is simply using his access and connections to accommodate fans. I can understand why some people may be confused.

Honestly, I stopped watching a long time ago. πŸ˜‚

They’re on their way to Chicago, so hopefully Bionce Foxx will have the honor of being the host. 🎀

Now, excuse me I’m a day behind on my assignments, and I have TONS of work to complete! πŸ“šπŸ’»

And just for the record: I can hear just fine! πŸ˜‚πŸ‘‚πŸΎ

Now I’m debating whether I should accept the invitation to the 2026 iHeartRadio Music Festival, taking place Friday, September 18 and Saturday, September 19, 2026. 🎢✨

Decisions, decisions… πŸ€”

11:17 a.m. Dre and Snoop… nope, never mind. πŸ˜‚ You already know that’s me, so stop playing!

And before somebody says something I’m not texting because I’m typing. There is a difference! πŸ˜‚⌨️

Well… FYI, I do NOT respond to Ice Cube. 🀷🏾‍♀️

Now, you tell me why? πŸ‘€πŸ˜‚

11:21 a.m. I know you like to give everyone else credit, but let me see who actually remembers the history. πŸ˜‚

Who can name the rap tune I sang background vocals on for Da Brat? πŸŽ€πŸ‘€

Oh my… you keep forgetting that Helen Wooten was her godmother AND mine. ❤️

In fact, when Helen moved into the building on Crandon, Da Brat aka Shaunnie and I were the only ones who helped her move into that building.

Now tell me do you know the name of the rap song I sang background on?

Ask her! πŸ˜‚ She should know.

And she should also be making an appearance in Chicago. 🎀

But let me make this clear one more time: this is NOT Chris Brown’s show. This is an Usher concert. Please stop mixing up the artists! πŸ˜‚

Now… who knows the song? πŸŽΆπŸ‘€

11:33 a.m. Jay don't be disrespectful, no response needed!!!

11:35 a.m. This is a SETUP! πŸ˜‚ Most definitely a preplanned call-in sheet. I hope you’re collecting those “tips” in the booth! πŸ’°πŸŽ€

Good Morning, New Edition! 🎢❤️

Now, I’m trying to import leads into my CRM, and y’all are over here distracting me! πŸ˜‚πŸ“ŠπŸ’»

I have work to do!

Happy Birthday, Biv!!! πŸŽ‚πŸŽ‰πŸŽ€

11:57 a.m. Crazy Howard McGhee… hey baby! πŸ˜‚ Where is your sister Kim?

For those of you who don't know, Kim and I hustled together at Tony Blair's Beeper Shop. Now this is crazy! πŸ˜‚πŸ“Ÿ

I refuse to answer this phone! πŸ“΅ I am literally trying to build my CRM, and y'all keep distracting me!

So, what does CRM mean?

CRM = Customer Relationship Management.

It is the combination of strategies, practices, and software a business uses to manage relationships and interactions with current and potential customers.

Think of it as my business's digital command center for my leads and clients. πŸ“ŠπŸ’»

I'm loading all of the leads I've created into my CRM so I can organize:

  • πŸ“‹ Contact information
  • πŸ“ž Phone numbers
  • πŸ“§ Email addresses
  • 🏒 Companies
  • πŸ‘€ Decision-makers
  • πŸ“ Notes
  • πŸ“… Follow-ups
  • πŸ’° Sales opportunities
  • πŸ“¬ Email campaigns and newsletters
  • 🧾 Invoices
  • 🀝 Client relationships

I am currently building a prospecting database of 250+ potential clients that I want to convert into contracts and recurring business.

Lead generation is my specialty. Now I'm putting the systems behind it so I can actually manage all these opportunities. πŸ’ΌπŸ“ˆ

And I'm not going to lie… I REALLY want to jump up, run to the store, grab some fresh fruits and vegetables, and make some fresh-pressed juice! 🍎πŸ₯¬πŸ₯•πŸŠ

But after yesterday?

I'm stuck in this seat! πŸ˜‚

Back to work. These leads aren't going to import themselves!

12:05 pm Sweet Love, how is Diandre calling in??? No comment!!!

12:10 pm Movie Answer:  "SOUL FOOD"...

Sunday's Soul Food, Catering & Concessions...Final Answer!!!

You just made me cry now I am ready to cook...

I knew I should not have answered this phone!

12:14 p.m. Please excuse me, but I am not allowed to speak to Jay, who somehow manages to make my life entirely too complicated. πŸ˜‚

Sir, you are married. I often ask Chris, “If Jay isn't satisfied with BeyoncΓ©, what exactly could I possibly give him?”

No thank you! πŸ˜‚✋🏾

Now excuse me, sir you have WAY too many MF problems, and this bitch ain't one of them. πŸ˜‚

Kelly, please come get your son's father! πŸ‘€πŸ˜‚ I see how y'all share!

And as for the rest of it, I respectfully decline to answer. Betray me once? Lesson learned. Betray me again? Absolutely not.

And Lisa… girl, bye. πŸ‘‹πŸΎ

Never again.

#RespectfullyDeclined #GirlBye #Boundaries #NoThankYou #NotMyProblem

12:44 p.m. CRM Comparison: Salesforce vs. HubSpot πŸ“ŠπŸ’»

Salesforce HANDS DOWN! πŸ˜‚

I’m trying to convert my contacts into an actual client list, and I have to be honest: HubSpot is confusing me! 🀦🏾‍♀️

Maybe I’m just a shameless Salesforce fan, but Salesforce makes more sense to me when it comes to organizing contacts, managing leads, tracking opportunities, and turning prospects into actual clients.

So here I am…

Starting all over! πŸ˜©πŸ˜‚

Back to importing, organizing, cleaning up, and building my client database. Because having 250+ leads is great—but turning those leads into paying clients and contracts is the real goal. πŸ’°πŸ“ˆ

Salesforce wins this round. πŸ†

12:47 p.m. FYI: I know you probably missed this update, but let me make it clear I do NOT respond to Michael, Janet, or anybody from the Jackson family.

I sincerely apologize, but I am not talking to the dead. I’m not acting delusional, and there is absolutely nothing I need to say to her or them.

I have no interest in idolizing anybody, especially when the situation is surrounded by bullshit and unnecessary drama.

Respectfully, I’m not engaging. ✋🏾

15 minute Break

12:56 p.m. Hey, AVANT! πŸ˜‚ Now you know Lynette is married! Don't be over there making Bobby jealous!

And yes, for those who don't know I worked security for Bobby at the Chicago Theatre! πŸŽ€πŸ™️

Y'all better stop acting like I don't remember my own history! πŸ˜‚

I was there. I know what I did.

1:32 pm Ludacris, I expect you in Chicago

1:45 p.m. Forgive me, but I can hear just fine! πŸ˜‚ I am manually loading 275 leads into my CRM, and I have to be extremely accurate with every detail because this is how I communicate, promote, invoice, and track my accounts. πŸ“ŠπŸ’»

I have WORK to do! πŸ˜‚

And yes, I’m expecting a lot of artists from Chicago to make an appearance at the show. πŸŽ€πŸ™️

Fun fact: When we lived with Helen, Da Brat (Shaunnie) and I shared a bed. Let me be clear I am not a lesbian, but I know she misses me. ❤️πŸ˜‚

Shaunnie lived across the street from Diane on Adams & Kilpatrick, and I still have her mother Hodgie on speed dial. πŸ“±

And before anybody gets confused her success doesn't bother me one bit. I remember where we came from, and I’m proud of what she accomplished.

If you remember, the first time she performed at the Regal happened because my singing group, ProtegΓ©, got cold feet at the last minute. I passed her the microphone, and the rest is history. 🎀πŸ”₯

That's my history, and I'm not competing with anybody.

I love you, but I have WORK to do! πŸ˜‚❤️

And one more correction because apparently we're doing genealogy today: That is not Lisa's sister, and she is not Ray McCoy's daughter. That is Lisa's former girlfriend.

Now, back to my 275 leads. πŸ“‹πŸ’°

SHOPPING: "I need a portable generator for my mobile notary set up"!!!

Thank You JESUS my food did not spoil!!!

Shopping for a Portable Generator: Preparing for the Next Blackout

I can't tell you how many blackouts I've lived through. At this point, a power outage isn't just an inconvenience it is a reminder that being prepared matters.

Back in 2017, when I lived off Jones and Tropicana, I experienced this same kind of situation. Yesterday brought back those memories.

Thankfully, I live in a community where people stand together and look out for one another. That kind of community support makes a difficult situation a little easier. But yesterday also made me realize that I need to take another step toward being prepared: I need a portable generator.

Why a Generator Is Now a Necessity

My mobile notary business requires me to work remotely and on location. I have printers, computers, phones, and other equipment that require electricity.

If I'm meeting a client somewhere and the power isn't available, I still need to be able to conduct business professionally.

A generator would give me the flexibility to keep working when traditional power isn't available.

And it's not just my mobile notary business.

When I attend pop-up events, I may need electricity for equipment, lighting, electronics, and other business needs. Having my own reliable power source would make setting up at events much easier.

Yesterday Was a Wake-Up Call

Yesterday was one of those days when I kept thinking:

"I really need a generator."

My biggest concern wasn't even my electronics.

It was my food.

I have spent four months stocking my freezer, and the thought of losing all of that food because of an extended power outage was stressful.

Food isn't cheap. Replacing an entire freezer full of groceries could be a significant financial loss.

That's when preparedness stops being a luxury and becomes an investment.

What I'm Looking For

Today, one of the top items on my agenda is researching a portable generator rated at 2,000 watts or better.

But I'm not just looking for the biggest generator I can find.

I want something that makes sense for my actual needs.

Some of the things I'm considering include:

- At least 2,000 watts of power
- Reliable operation
- Portable enough to transport
- Suitable for business equipment
- Enough capacity for essential household needs
- Multiple outlets
- USB charging capability
- Good fuel efficiency or battery runtime
- Reasonable noise level
- Easy startup and operation
- Dependable enough for emergencies
- Practical for taking to pop-up events
- Good value for the money

I'm also going to pay close attention to the difference between starting watts and running watts. Some equipment requires additional power when it initially starts, so simply looking at the advertised wattage isn't enough.

Business + Emergency Preparedness

For me, purchasing a generator isn't just about surviving the next blackout.

It's also about protecting my businesses.

My mobile notary operation requires technology. My pop-up businesses require equipment. My work depends on being able to operate in different locations.

A portable generator could essentially become another piece of my business equipment.

Power outage? I'm prepared.

Outdoor event? I'm prepared.

Remote work location? I'm prepared.

That's the goal.

The Bigger Lesson

Yesterday reminded me that emergencies don't always give us advance notice.

You can prepare for a storm, a blackout, an unexpected emergency, or a situation that lasts longer than anticipated but preparation has to happen before the emergency.

I've already learned that lesson with food.

Now it's time to apply it to electricity.

Today's Agenda

Find the right portable generator.

Not necessarily the most expensive.

Not necessarily the biggest.

But one that provides enough power for my essential household needs, protects my food investment, and allows me to continue operating my businesses when the lights go out.

Because after living through enough blackouts, I've learned one thing:

I'd rather have the generator sitting in my home and never need it than desperately need one and not have it.

The next blackout won't catch me completely unprepared.

Preparation isn't paranoia. It's peace of mind.
