HOW TO APPLY FOR NACA HOMEOWNER PROGRAM

NACA program application process

To apply for the NACA program, follow these steps:

- Step 1: Attend a Homeownership Workshop: Learn about homeownership and the NACA program in detail. Workshops are held multiple times a month in different cities, typically every other Saturday from 9am to 1pm local time. You can also attend virtually if you can't drive to a NACA office.

- Step 2: Meet with a Housing Counselor: Review your income, debts, and savings with a counselor to gauge your financial readiness for homeownership. They'll determine how much you can afford to spend on a house and provide guidance on becoming NACA-qualified.

- Step 3: Attend a Purchase Workshop: Learn more about the home buying process and work with an in-house real estate agent to find a home within your budget. These workshops are usually held every Thursday from 6 to 7:30 pm local time.

- Step 4: Request a Qualification Letter: Once you've found a house, contact your housing counselor to request a qualification letter, which proves you're qualified to buy the home. Include this letter with your purchase offer.

- Step 5: Home Inspection: A NACA-approved home inspector and pest control company will inspect the property to ensure it's in good condition. Any issues must be fixed before closing.

- Step 6: Meet with a Mortgage Consultant: Finalize your application with a NACA-approved lender, who will confirm your financial situation and process your loan.

- Step 7: Receive Post-Purchase Assistance: Take advantage of NACA's Membership Assistance Program (MAP) for ongoing support, including financial guidance and hardship relief.

Some key benefits of the NACA program include ¹ ²:
- No Down Payment: Start your home purchase without saving thousands upfront.
- No Closing Costs: NACA covers fees typically paid out of pocket.
- No Private Mortgage Insurance (PMI): Avoid extra monthly charges.
- Below-Market Interest Rates: Loans are more affordable, and you can even buy down the rate.
- Comprehensive Counseling: Support from a NACA counselor helps prepare your finances for homeownership.

To get started, visit NACA's website to register for a workshop or find more information.
