Why I’m Decorating: A Journey Beyond Things

You might be wondering—why am I decorating right now? Honestly, I don’t fully know what the future holds. But what I do know is this: my journey isn’t about chasing material things or trying to impress anyone. It’s about reclaiming my peace, building a space that reflects my growth, and preparing my mind and environment for the success I’m manifesting.

This isn’t a shopping spree—it’s intentional living on a budget. Most of my items are thrifted or gifted. It’s not about luxury—it’s about comfort, motivation, and purpose. Every single item in my space either connects to my children or serves as a visual reminder of where I’m going.

My home is my sanctuary. I’m designing it with two color schemes in mind:
1. Black and Gold for power, elegance, and legacy
2. Green and Gold for peace, prosperity, and fresh starts

Let me walk you through the vision:

Bedroom:

My safe space.
I’ve ordereda queen comforter set (sheets, comforter, skirt, and pillowcases) and matching curtains. There’s already a TV, but I’m thinking of adding a desk and other touches that keep me grounded—like a vision board or a soft throw in my color scheme. This room will be where I rest and dream.

Bathroom:

A beauty corner just for me.
A new shower curtain set. My favorite makeup and all the tools—curling irons, blow dryer—because when I look good, I feel good. A place to recharge.

Living Room:

Where vision meets vibe.
An area rug to pull it all together. Lush plants for energy. Art that makes me feel something. This room will reflect who I am, what I’ve overcome, and where I’m headed.

Kitchen:

The heart of my home.
I'll ordee an air fryer, toaster, towel sets, mats, and labeled storage jars. And—blessing alert—a client gifted me a $400 cooking set! #Thankful

With a full kitchen and a perfect schedule that brings me home by 6PM, I’m diving back into cooking. It’s therapeutic, grounding, and a creative outlet I’ve missed.

The Bigger Picture:

I recently interviewed for the role I wanted the most—and I got it! The pay is close to perfect, the location is exactly where I want to be, and the schedule aligns with the life I want to live. I’ll finally be applying my skills in an environment that feels right.

Yes, I’m still waiting on a claim that may take 3–4 months, but instead of waiting in uncertainty, I’m using this time wisely. I’m building my professional profile, setting up my space, and nurturing myself.

And yes, I want a pet—someone to greet me at the door and remind me I’m not alone in this.
